THE SHORT ANSWER
How much does office automation cost in India?
Commercial automation projects in India are priced per building and scope. One Indian integrator puts a 3,000 to 8,000 sq ft office with KNX lighting, HVAC and metering at about ₹8 to ₹18 lakh and 10,000 to 30,000 sq ft at ₹25 to ₹70 lakh, including design, commissioning and a year of support. Nexoforma currently focuses on homes.

Define operating zones and schedules
List the spaces, occupancy patterns and systems involved: lighting, HVAC, access, AV and monitoring. Identify who can override automation during cleaning, maintenance or events. A home-style demonstration may not show what happens when many people use the building at once.
Assign ownership across contractors
Ask who owns the points list, network, integrations and commissioning record. Describe the hand-off between electrical, mechanical, security and IT teams. Agree a change-control process so a replacement device does not silently break a building-wide schedule.
Procure against acceptance criteria
Request a pilot area before repeating the design. Include operator training, software access, licences and annual support in the commercial evaluation. Nexoforma accepts project interest for discovery; provider coverage and delivery capacity need separate confirmation.
Current information to check
ONVIF provides an official conformance database. For video or access integrations, check the listed model, firmware and profile instead of relying on a brand-wide compatibility statement.

Questions answered
How much does office automation cost in India?
Techvault’s 2026 guide gives ₹8 to ₹18 lakh for a 3,000 to 8,000 sq ft office and ₹25 to ₹70 lakh for 10,000 to 30,000 sq ft, including design, supply, installation, commissioning and one year of support. These are published planning references, not quotes: ask local providers to price the same written scope.
What should a commercial automation brief include?
Spaces and occupancy, operating hours, HVAC and lighting equipment, metering, access control, who operates the system, and the handover and maintenance you expect.
Does Nexoforma handle commercial projects?
Nexoforma currently focuses on residential projects in India. You can share commercial interest through the commercial page.
Is GST included in commercial automation quotes?
Ask for GST on every line. Retail listings such as Moglix’s Wipro smart touch switch show about 18% GST inside the price; equipment and installation may be taxed differently.
Who should own the commercial automation system?
The building owner or facility team should hold admin accounts, the points list and programming backups. Agree this in the contract before handover.
Do commercial projects need different installers?
Often yes: commercial work needs experience with BMS protocols, larger electrical systems and operator training. Ask for comparable completed projects and references.
