Keep the guest room understandable
Test lighting, curtains and climate controls with someone who has never seen the system. Avoid a room that needs a long explanation to turn on a reading light. Agree accessible controls and staff override procedures with the operator and design team.
Design for operations, not only a demonstration
List housekeeping, engineering and front-office requirements separately. Specify which systems exchange information and what happens when an interface is unavailable. A proposed link to a property-management system needs named software versions, supported functions and vendor responsibility.
Validate in a pilot room
Review occupied and unoccupied behaviour, complaints handling and equipment replacement. Measure any intended energy saving against an agreed baseline rather than treating a sales percentage as a result. Include spare parts, training, licences and escalation arrangements in the total evaluation.
Current information to check
BEE publishes appliance efficiency requirements and labels. Compare the actual HVAC equipment and operating assumptions; controls alone do not establish a hotel-wide energy-saving percentage.
